What are the design matters?
Essentially, the subject that interests us the most, are the emotions. Those who take architecture as a craft and (how) its practice, and especially the emotions of those who will use it, inhabit, pass through and feel it. sensory and perceptual.
We are talking about protection, welfare, comfort and harmony, but also of power, identity and spirituality. the architecture only exists for people who are alive. even for an animal shelter project, the mediation of our perception of reality - our senses - is all imposing. the so-called “architecture of the dead“ only exists because the living claim simulacra of perpetuity, placebos to the inevitable physical deterioration, instruments for memory.
This is transversal the entire thinking and architectural intervention. The memory - and the memory transmission, communication - is the essential matrix of the human being. Our whole perception is inextricably marked by previous experiences, their own and especially those received, learned or apprehended consciously or subliminally. the emotions are conditioned, shaped by prior experiences and created by a web of expectations pre-installed and managed. the culture.
We deal with emotions, we speak of culture that adjective, embodies and conditions. If the very notion of culture has many interpretations, cultural matrix varies in a complex web of overlapping vectors such as geography, age, gender, academic preparation, social position, religion and many others. and as always we encounter different cultures - from a global level, the smaller communities to the individual - we talk about different emotional perceptions.
This our “clay”.
